In 2016, we found out how early gender bias starts. So the next year, we focused on tackling the source of this bias — a lack of female role models on screen and in real life.
Because we couldn’t find inspiring females in children’s films, we created our own with the help of artists from all over the world.
As our way of supporting more women in the creative industry, we made sure that 90% of the team that worked on the project, from illustrators to sound engineers, were made up of women.
No More Females
In 2018, we released a campaign that highlighted how language perpetuates gender bias. By qualifying job titles with gender, in particular by saying “female CEO” or “female doctor”, we subconsciously imply that it’s unnatural for a woman to hold that job.
